General Information: Insurance in Australia

Car rental insurance varies widely, so please review the information below prior to making your reservation. Regulations of the country where you rent the car will be in effect for the duration of your rental.

All our car rental rates include fire and third party liability insurance. In Australia, our rates also provide collision and/or theft coverage at an advance purchase discount. Specific insurance information for your reservation will be printed on your confirmation voucher.

The standard liability excess / deductible is A$5,000 / A$6,000 (included in the standard rental price).

The following guidelines apply to rentals commencing in Australia.

Optional Coverage

In Australia, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and theft protection are included in Auto Europe rates. CDW reduces the deductible (responsibility of the client) to usually approx. A$2,500. Full Cover Insurance (Premium Cover, Maxi Cover etc) reduces the excess liability to $500 and often to zero (MAUI, BRITZ, KEA, EASYLIFE).

Security Deposit

The security deposit (to be paid upon pick up in cash or credit card) is as high as the insurance excess / deductible is.
